Hello fellow bloggers out there! My name is Jenna De Vos and my life is crazy now. Just three months ago I married a wonderful Belgium man named Dirk. Not only did I fall in the love with Dirk; I fell in the love with the country Belgium. It's an amazing country with many traditions and customs for me to learn. Since Dirk and I decided to get married here in Belgium, my family and I had to learn the wedding customs of Belgium. It's symbolic for the bride to carry a handkerchief with her name embroidered on it, so Dirk's mother made me my own special handkerchief. After the wedding you frame the handkerchief and hang it in a place of honor, so now it's hanging above our fireplace. The handkerchief is considered a family heirloom and is passed down to the next girl to get married on the bride's side of the family. A lot of Belgium customs are very unusual especially in ancient times the new couple would go on their honeymoon for 28 days. We didn't practice all of these customs, but a lot were fun and different. I'm now living right outside of Antwerp and the diamond on my hand is from there. If you didn't know Antwerp is considered the diamond capital of the world, so wearing a diamond from there is very special! I'm very excited about my new life and experiences and I will be posting more, but for now bye!
Wow! Belgium seems really cool.
