Syttende Mai

Hi its me Thurman, and today is May seventeenth. That may not seem to special to you, but for me it is a national holiday. In 1814, Norway broke away from Denmark after 400 years of danish rule. On the 17 of May that year, Norway established their constitution. We celebrate it by having parades where both children and adults both dress up while carrying flags and singing. We also like to call it Syttende Mai here, which just means May 17. My mom likes to make risengrot, which is rice pudding. She also loves to make Viking hot dogs, which are wrapped in lefse, a soft, potato based flat bread. Well I have to go now, happy Syttende Mai!
