Scottish Religion

Hey, it's Ian yet again. I'm not really religious, but I thought it would be kinda important to talk about the main religions in Scotland. Most of us are Christians, first of all. The Church of Scotland is the largest denomination, with 42% of the population. About 16% of us are in the Roman Catholic Church, and the rest are mainly Baptists and Episcopalians, but the are several minorities.

Dario's School Time

Hey people how are we doing today? Today i will be looking into the school system for Italy. Here in Itay the childern are required to go to school at age six through sixteen. Regarless of nationality the school is free to go to. Which its awsome to be able to go to school and learn and its free. Most likey there would be more people in the school that is free. They like to see obedience over creativity. The student are allowd to take a pass exam so that they may move uo in school. The school year last til September to about mid June. When the teen turns sixteen he is allowed to leave school. In school they study many things like language, fine arts, and teach training. There are most universities in the major part of Italy for where the students can go and do hard work. They are intence on there students in the college. So you can see that education for Italy is very important and they want all there students to do well in life. Up to your right is a picture of a Italian middle school.

School in Norway

Hi its me Thurman again, and its getting close for schools to start up again . The way schools work here is a little different than how schools in America work. Our school system can be divided into three parts. Elementary School, Lower Secondary School, and Upper Secondary School. Elementary School and Lower Secondary School is required for kids six through sixteen. Before 1997, kids started at the age of seven. In grades two through seven they are introduced to math, English, science, religion, Norwegian, and a couple of other basics. When students enter lower secondary school, at the ages of 12 or 13 usually, they begin getting grades for their work. Our grades determine if we get t0 go to our high school of choice. Upper secondary school is three optional years of high school. I will be in my last year of Lower Secondary School this year.

Dance

It's Ceana again, I love to dance. Here in Scotland we have really different types of dances. Here we have a really awesome country dance, which involves different couples and dances in a really cool pattern. Country dancing is considered like a folk dance. Ballroom dances like the waltz and tango are very popular here aswell, but those take alot more practice. Also, a dance thats 100% pure Scottish is Scottish highland dance, which is to not be confused with country dancing. But it's more of a sport rather than a social dance. I'll see you later!

Spainish Art

Hey, it's me again, Carolina, from Spain. I want to talk to y'all about Spainish art today. One of my favorite artists ever is from Spain. His name is Salvador Dali, his full name Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dali i Domenech, 1st Marquis of Pubol. He painted many abstract works of art, such as faces, landscapes, and many other things, except twisted and malformed, in order to tell a message. His most well known work is The Persistence of Memory, which portrays a coastal scene with clocks melting over trees, a table, an animal, and mountains. It is one of my faavorite paintings, and is currently hanging in my room over my bed. Well, I think that's it for now, Adios, Carolina.

Vacation to VENICE!!!!!!!!

Mamma mia! I just found out that my family and I are going to Venice for our vacation! I am so excited for this trip! Venice stretches across 118 islands in the Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. The city is built on closely spaced wood piles (wood underwater does not decay in the absence of oxygen). In the 20th century when many Artesian wells were dug into the lagoon for local water, Venice began to sink. Finally, they realized that the extraction of the aquifers was causing the problem. For now, the process has slowed almost to a stop.

I can't wait to ride the gondolas (a traditional, flat bottom boat in Venice) and see all of their amazing sights since Venice is a city built on water. It has also been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic." Most Venetians travel by motorized water buses called vaporetti. Since this our first time traveling to Venice, we have to do this the right way and in style! Go Gondolas!!

The Old Greek Gods!

Hey everybody! It's me Percy again and today I want to talk about one of mine and my brother's favorite subjects: the Greek gods! The gods of Greece really fascinate me for a number of a reasons. They've had wars, fighting, marriage, and they each control a specific thing! Ok, according to Greek mithology, there are three high gods, or main gods. They are Zeus, Posiedon, and Hades. Most of you know Hades; he is the god of the dead and he lives in the underworld. Posiedon is the god of the sea and Zeus is the god of the sky. There are other gods, such as Ares (my older brother's favorite god) who is the god of war, and Morpheus (the god of dreams). I could go on and on, but it's time for me to eat and get to bed.
